  • I bought this laptop (Toshiba L775D-S7222) from Staples.com and it was supposed to be a 2.3 GHz processor but actually came with a 1.4 GHz processor. When I called the 800# they said they were sorry for the mistake and for me to find a Staples store to go to and have them replace it with the right one. The nearest store was 30 minutes from my home. When I got to the store and explained the situation, I asked the Manager (Harris Blvd Store in Charlotte, NC) to check the PC I was switching with to make sure it was the right processor speed as advertised. He said it was against store policy for him to open the computer. ???? WHAT????? I had to ‘return’ the wrong one (which took over 1 hr because they couldn’t get their computer to work). Then he rung up the ‘new’ computer and allowed me to open it. It also was only a 1.4 Ghz processor. I left the store 1.5 hours later with no computer! They did apologize for the inconvenience. So, is Staples replacing processors and selling customers on fraudulent specs??? How many people look at their new computer to make sure the store is selling them what they are paying for? How many THOUSANDS of computers have Staples and others sold under false pretense. This is theft at it’s highest!!!

  • maybe you should do some research before you run your mouth everywhere christa. This laptop has the AMD Quad-Core A6-3400M accelerated processor, key word is accelerated which means that it will boost the processor speed from 1.4 to 2.3 ghz if needed for what your doing. Go to amds website and read it for yourself if you need too. Computer illiterate people like you make our jobs alote harder

  • Jeremy is 100% right.

  • Christa,
This machine definitely reaches 2.3Ghz /23X multiplier. The thing is you need CPU-Z and an intense running process in the background. It uses turbo mode where the high speed is switched on and off. Some utility programs cannot display that number because windows cannot poll for events under such load and you don’t catch the boost. If you leave CPU-Z running you can see it boost when you do tasks like type websites into the browser bar while it looks for hints.

Its not false advertising because it is sold as an accelerated CPU. The idea is you don’t need top performance when you are typing in Word. I run virtual machines on this laptop and its definitely not a slouch. In some cases, ts about 1/2 to 1/3 the speed of a decent production SERVER! For the 450$ I paid with a coupon I have no regrets.

Also, anyone who owns this machine should connect a spare monitor – you can double your screen real estate. I was going to buy a desktop too but I really don’t need it. I’m a programmer web developer and this machine is MORE than enough. It truly excels at video (hulu, etc).

  • This is my second satellite, the first one lasted 6 days and self destructed. I took it back and Staples handed me a new one. The second one appears to be much better than the first. My first one had clock problems and needed updating in the sound drivers. I was listening to online music when it blew up. This new one plays very well, although it doesn’t seem any faster than the HP it is replacing. The HP only had a AMD dual processor, but seem to screem. time will tell.
