T-Mobile G1 Reviews

T-Mobile's newest product T-Mobile G1 was officially announced on 23rd this month at a press conference in New York. The T-Mobile G1 will go on sale on October 22nd for $179 with a 2-year customer agreement. People in United Kingdom will have access in early November and people in Germany, Austria, Czech Republic and the Netherlands can start to buy it in the first quarter of 2009. The best part is, the T-Mobile G1 features WiFi and 3G radios, a 3-megapixel camera, and support for the Android Market and Amazon's mobile MP3 store, giving owners apps and tunes on the go. This is a marvelous creation on phone marketing.

Now the question is if the first Android phone is something you want to buy right away or if you rather wait for the next generation. Some sites got their hands on the T-Mobile G1 and published their impressions which reveal not just good things about the G1. What's your opinion?

Ok, here are some key features of T-Mobile G1:

  • HSDPA 1700 / 2100 plus quadband EDGE
  • WiFi
  • 3D graphics acceleration
  • 3-megapixel camera
  • 256 MB integrated storage, 1GB microSD card included
  • Android Market for on-device app purchases
  • Amazon MP3 app for on-device music purchases
  • Push Gmail support with full HTML client
  • Bluetooth (but no A2DP)
  • Google Maps with Street View
  • No Microsoft Exchange support
  • No desktop synchronization — it all happens over the air
  • 350 minutes talk time over 3G, 406 minutes over GSM
  • 402 hours standby over 3G, 319 hours over GSM

Now since you've known this news, what do you think about it? Are you going to buy T-Mobile G1 when it

is on sale? Or you will wait and see how it is? What do you think when compare it with iPhone? For me, I think I will try it when it is first released, you know I like to try new things. Anyway, $179 is not expensive at all.

  • G1-Google Phone is a nigthmare. No way to sync contacts from outlook. No way to sync notes. No way to sync appoinments. I have 1700 telephone numbers in my old phone. It doesn’t support any external software. No speakerphone. No matter what you do you always end in “Google”. I don’t think it will replace in any manner the iphone or a blackberry. Sorry! I returned the very same day I got it by mail!

  • Tony is incorrect.
#1) There is a 3rd party application to sync contacts from outlook, it was announced days before tony made his post, and such apps are now available. For info: http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2008/10/17/wrike-and-intermedia-to-launch-contactsync-exchangeoutlook-sync-tool-for-g1-android/

AND there is a local method for importing contacts and appointments from a saved outlook file without using 3rd party software. Learn to use search engines amd support forums people.

#2) What does “it doesn’t support external softwware mean? A great many developers have created and continue to create innovative 3rd party applications for Android (the OS on the G1) and the G1 itself. As well as “gateway” applications and APIs/middleware for apps on other OS’s.

#3) It DOES have a speakerphone. You obviously don’t own a G1, and never have. Nice troll though.
